Speaking on the topic “Is Comprehensive Sexuality Education a need in Nigeria?”, member of the Association of Concerned Mothers (ASCOM), Chinelo Ujubuonu condemned the teaching of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (SCE) in schools in Nigeria, adding that CSE focuses on children seeking sexual pleasure, instead of the hazards of premarital sex. While advising parents to give utmost attention to their wards, so that the children won’t go outside to seek for things they don’t know, Ujubuonu noted that the family was the most suitable place to initiate children and youths into the practice of good character, values, life skills and wholesome sexual behaviour. Said she: “CSE doesn’t teach children to respect the customs, laws and culture of the nation; it rather stands for condom and sex everywhere. While teachers may cooperate in educating the children in good character formation, parents are however, the first and best educators”.
