James joined the Group in 2019 from HSBC, where he was a managing director in Operational Risk, based in Dubai, Paris and London, responsible for fraud, investigations, cyber, and crisis management for Global Banking and Markets. He was a certified anti money laundering specialist and fraud examiner. He was previously HSBC’s Middle East advisor. James served for 19 years in the UK’s Diplomatic Service. He specialised in the Middle East and multinational institutions with postings to Cairo, Amman, Sana’a, Beirut and Baghdad, as well as Brussels and Geneva. James was made an OBE in 2007. He speaks French.
