Hinnant has been chief nuclear officer since 1998. He joined Progress Energy (then CP&L) in 1972 at the Brunswick Plant and has served in numerous leadership positions at each of the three Carolinas-based nuclear sites, including site vice president at the Robinson Plant near Hartsville, S.C., and at the Brunswick Plant. Hinnant was also plant general manager at the Harris Nuclear Plant near New Hill, N.C.
