Larry A Liebenow

Larry A. Liebenow is a past chairman of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He has served on the board since 1996, most recently as chairman of the International Policy Committee. Since 1997, he has also served on the board of the Center for International Private Enterprise, a Chamber affiliate that works to build democracy and market economies globally. Liebenow was president, CEO, and director of Quaker Fabric Corp., one of the world’s largest producers of upholstery fabrics and the only publicly held company in Fall River, Mass. Quaker Fabric Corp. is widely considered to be the product leader in its industry, selling its products in over 45 countries and demonstrating strong annual growth under Liebenow’s leadership. He also is on the advisory board of the Council of the Americas, and is a member of the Providence Committee on Foreign Relations in Providence, R.I. He also is the former president and chairman of Nortex International in Philadelphia, Pa.; CEO of Grupo Pliana, S.A. in Mexico City, Mexico; and vice president of finance for Dalmine Siderca S.A.I.C. in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2002, Liebenow was appointed by President Bush to the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations, which considers trade policy issues in the context of the overall national interest. Liebenow graduated from Willamette University and received his master’s degree in business administration from Cornell University. He and his wife, Kathleen, reside in Providence, R.I. They have three daughters.
