Sam Haskell IV

Sam Haskell IV, the son of two prominent Mississippi figures, was found dead Saturday July 12 2005 inside a Los Angeles County jail while awaiting trial on triple murder charges. Authorities say Haskell, 37, died by suicide at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in downtown Los Angeles Haskell was charged in November 2023 with murdering his wife, Mei Lei, and her parents. Haskell was the son of Mary Donnelly Haskell, a former Miss Mississippi, and Sam Haskell III, who previously served as CEO of the Miss America Organization. Haskell and his wife shared three young sons. Authorities said the children are now in the custody of the California Department of Children and Family Services.
