Melissa E Winter

Winter was Michelle Obama's first hire on the campaign trail and served as her traveling chief of staff. After graduating from Skidmore College, she moved to Washington and began an 18-year career on Capitol Hill. She spent the bulk of that time working for Rep. Norman Mineta (D-Calif.) and Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (I-Conn.) Winter was Lieberman’s traveling aide during his 2000 vice presidential run and was in charge of scheduling during his 2004 presidential run.
