The Enterprise Holdings Foundation is the charitable arm of Alamo Rent A Car, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and National Car Rental – collectively North America's largest rental car company. As president of the Foundation, Jo Ann Taylor Kindle is responsible for the allocation of millions of dollars in charitable contributions to thousands of organizations each year. Funded by contributions from the company's operations, the Foundation provides financial assistance to recognized charities and community functions supported by Enterprise Holdings' employees and customers. Kindle has had a life-long involvement with the company, which her father, Jack Taylor, founded in 1957 in the basement of a Cadillac dealership. After graduating from the University of Denver with a B.A. in 1972, she took a job as an assistant buyer in St. Louis at Famous Barr, a division of the former May Department Stores (now Federated), where she worked until 1974. Kindle officially joined the Enterprise Rent-A-Car team and served as office manager of a St. Louis location until 1977. Kindle then left her post at the company to raise her two children, and returned to head the Foundation in 1994.
