Alice N Schwartz

Alice Schwartz is cofounder of $2 billion (sales) biotechnology firm Bio-Rad Laboratories, now run by son Norman, who is chairman and CEO. The company, which she and her late husband founded with $720 in 1952, sells 10,000 different life-science research and clinical diagnostics products to more than 100,000 research and health care industry customers. Among its latest: a screening kit for cancerous genetic mutations and an HIV test that analyzes antibodies and antigens for early virus detection.
