Samuel Plimpton

Samuel Plimpton is a Managing Director of The Baupost Group, LLC ("Baupost"), and serves as co-head of the firm's Private Investment area, which includes real estate. Baupost was established in 1982, is a Registered Investment Advisor, and currently manages over $16 billion of equity capital on a discretionary basis. The firm is an experienced investor in a wide range of securities and asset classes, including domestic and foreign stocks and bonds, securities and trade claims of companies in financial distress; performing and non-performing bank loans, real estate-related debt and equity, privately negotiated investments, and other illiquid investments. Baupost has invested in most property types, in North America, Western Europe, Latin America, and Asia. Prior to joining Baupost, Sam was a partner in independent real estate ventures. He held a research appointment in Real Estate at the Harvard Business School, received both M.B.A. and M.Arch degrees from Harvard University, and a BA from Stanford University.
