After graduation from the U of M Law School, Professor Steven Champlin ’69 began a 45-year law career with Dorsey & Whitney LLP. During that career Professor Champlin largely focused on serving the construction industry, representing owners, architects, engineers, sureties, subcontractors, suppliers, and others involved in the industry; handled hundreds of litigated or arbitrated cases; served as a construction arbitrator and mediator; and presented scores of papers and speeches at legal and construction industry seminars. Prior to his retirement from Dorsey at the end of December 2014, Professor Champlin served as the Head of the firm’s Construction Group for more than two decades. Since retiring, Professor Champlin has continued to serve regularly as an arbitrator.
