Second wife and now widow of Reinhard Mohn who died at 88 in 2009. She and her family inherited a fortune based on a 23% stake in $22 billion (sales) Bertelsmann AG, one of the world's leading media conglomerates. Bertelsmann owns assets included the RTL Group, the largest European broadcaster; Random House, world's largest book-publishing group; and Gruner + Jahr, Europe's biggest magazine publisher with such titles as The Financial Times Deutschland and Der Stern. Liz, as she is known, has been actively involved in the company for years; as a member of the supervisory board represented her husband after he retired; also vice CEO of the Bertelsmann Foundation which owns 77% of the company. President of a foundation that seeks to prevent strokes, which she founded in 1992. In 2003 she and her husband were awarded the Teddy-Kollek prize, given out by the Jerusalem Foundation for people who have actively promoted German-Jewish understanding.
