Best is the former chairman and CEO of Lone Star Technologies Inc. from which he retired after its merger with United States Steel Company in 2007. He has served as a director of the board at Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation, his term ending when the company merged with Cimarex Energy in 2021 to form Coterra Energy.
