James P McGinnis

Mr. James P. McGinnis is a Managing Director and Director of Investments at Harbinger Capital Partners. Prior to that, he was a Managing Director at AIG Financial Products Corp., specializing in energy and infrastructure. Prior to that, Mr. McGinnis was a Managing Director in the Global Energy and Utilities Group at Morgan Stanley. While at Morgan Stanley, he was responsible for global coverage of selected public utilities. In addition to the traditional domestic investment banking activities of mergers and acquisition and capital raising, Mr. McGinnis was responsible at different times for business in Asia and Australia, including the privatization of the state-owned electricity supply sector of South Australia. Mr. McGinnis began his career with Goldman Sachs & Co. as a Mergers and Acquisitions and Restructuring Specialist in the Energy and Telecommunications Group. He holds a B.A. degree from Harvard College, and an M.B.A. degree from the Harvard Business School.
