Shonni J Silverberg

Shonni, her husband John Shapiro and sons, Zachary and Nathaniel, have been members of Central Synagogue since 1999. Shonni is an endocrinologist and Professor of Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. Shonni earned a BA from Wesleyan University and an MD from Cornell University Medical College. Shonni is Senior Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of Wesleyan University and Vice President of the Board of Trustees of The Metropolitan Coordinating Council on Jewish Poverty. Shonni is a member of the Board of Trustees of The Hastings Center for Bioethics and Public Policy and serves on the President’s Advisory Council of Hebrew Union College and the Ben Gurion University of the Negev Medical School for International Health Advisory Committee, and is Chair of the Development Committee of the American Society for Bone & Mineral Research. Shonni was previously a Trustee of The Dalton School.
