Yogendra N. (Yogen) Rahangdale joined American Axle & Manufacturing as director, Corporate Manufacturing Planning in 1995 and was appointed executive director, Manufacturing Services in March 1998. He was appointed vice president, Manufacturing Services, in April 1999, and vice president, Manufacturing & Procurement Services in March 2000. Rahangdale has also served as executive vice president & chief technology officer and executive vice president, Operations & Planning. Rahangdale served as AAM President & COO from October 1, 2005 until December 1, 2007 when he was named vice chairman. Additionally, he was appointed Chief Technology Officer (CTO) on March 1, 2008. During his career with AAM, Rahangdale has applied his operational skills, innovative thinking and technical expertise to successfully manage more than $3 billion in capital expenditures to achieve world-class standards of quality and productivity while meeting AAM’s cost objectives. Rahangdale has 35 years of manufacturing and automotive experience. He began his career at the Bhilai Steel plant in India as engineer in charge of maintenance and repair of plant machinery, equipment and locomotives for internal transportation. He moved to Volkswagen of America in 1979 where he worked in various capacities in body shop and paint operations. Rahangdale has a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the Government Engineering College (A.P.S. University) in Rewa, India. He also holds a master of business administration degree from Michigan State University. He is a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and serves on the Board of Directors of the Engineering Society of Detroit. Rahangdale also serves on the Oakland University Advisory Board for the School of Engineering and Computer Science.
