Jim Schroeder has over 35 years of oil and gas experience and is a specialist in acquiring and developing unconventional gas reservoirs in the Rockies. Prior to co-founding Laramie, he was President and founder of Mesa Hydrocarbons, Inc., a Piceance Basin focused E&P subsidiary of Progress Energy Inc. (NYSE: PGN). Jim and his operating team, most of whom have joined Laramie, grew Mesa Hydrocarbons from a 1998 initial acquisition of 4 Bcfe of proved reserves in the Mamm Creek Field of Garfield County, Colorado to approximately 100 Bcfe of proved reserves when the company was sold in late 2003. Mesa Hydrocarbons drilled and operated over 100 wells in the Mamm Creek Field and was named Operator of the Year by the Colorado Oil and Gas Commission in 1999 for its strong environmental and regulatory compliance track-record. Jim began his career in 1967 with Standard Oil of California (now ChevronTexaco) as an exploration geologist/geophysist. From 1973 to 1981, he was Manager of Gas Supply with San Diego-based Pacific Lighting Corporation (now Sempra Energy). He moved to Denver in 1981 as Chief Operating Officer of Simasko Production Company and in 1985 joined Denver-based NICOR Exploration as its Chief Operating Officer. Jim obtained a M.S. degree in Geology from San Diego State and a B.S. in Geology/Geophysics from the University of Redlands (CA).
