The Youth Advisory ensured that the Foundation is informed by what learners think about the skills, knowledge, and supports they need and the ways they get them. The expertise of young people especially influenced the District Level Systems Change Initiative. Five organizations with proven histories of developing the leadership, advocacy, and organizing skills of young people were selected to bring two youth and one adult to lend expertise to build a youth-driven Advisory. Participants had the opportunity to network with their peers across New England while increasing their knowledge about youth organizing and education reform. By gathering and sharing knowledge about these topics, young people were able to boost the capacity of their own organizations and communities while helping create a network of youth leaders to share practices and support among New England states. |
