He created and for several years chaired two special interest groups for the International Society for Technology in Education. These global networks of several thousand educators educators each focus on (a) digital equity, highlighting proven strategies for fostering more equitable access for disadvantaged students and their educators and families to essential learning technology resources (www.iste.org/sigde, hardware, software, web access, educators skilled using technology, etc.); and (b) innovative learning technologies, identifying existing and fostering creation of new technologies keyed to educators' priorities to improve their students' engagement, learning opportunities and learning results (www.iste.org/sigilt).
