This program consistently graduates 75-80% of entering stu- dents from Harcum College and Computer Technology Institute/Metropolitan Career Cen- ter with one of nine total degree options, through the delivery of a small cohort boutique model. In 2013, EdPlus coordinated this program at three high school sites, educating over 105 students. The model recently adopted a focus in the field of allied health, ad- dressing the increasing need for highly trained healthcare workers to meet the demand of thousands of new consumers of healthcare in the Philadelphia region by providing degrees in allied health professions. Education Plus Academy Cyber Charter School Through its focus on education and providing opportunities to all children, Education-Plus, Inc. supports the Education Plus Academy Cyber Charter School. In June 2014, EdPlus Academy will complete its second successful year of operations, educating 500 children in 8 learning centers throughout Pennsylvania. A separate independent 501 (c)(3), EdPlus Academy provides accessible, high quality, evidence-based educational services for chil- dren aged 5–21 (grades K–12), and specializes in services for students who have learning disabilities/differences in reading, math, and/or written expression. Philadelphia Social Innovations Journal (PSIJ) Through its focus on social enterprise, Education-Plus, Inc. supports the Philadelphia Social Innovations Journal. During the 2013 fiscal year, PSIJ celebrated its fourth anniversary by reaching over 1,300 individuals and publishing 4 editions: Innovations in Regional Partner- ships for Strategic Growth; The Next Generation Redefining the Global Workforce; Social and Public Innovations: How Local Government In- novates; and the Nominate an Innovator mini-edition. The Social Inno- vations Lab has grown in its 2nd year, training 30 teams and 90 indi- viduals through a 15-week boot camp to develop social enterprise models from ideas to implementation. School Health Clinics In 2013, the Education Plus School Health Clinics served over 600 medically underserved children in West Philadelphia through nurse practitioner-managed clinics located inside Belmont Charter School. In addition to providing health services, the clinics offered nutrition coun- seling, health outreach and education, chronic disease management, referrals and prescriptions to all students and their families. A strategic partnership with Keystone-AmeriHealth was initiated that will bring in- surance reimbursements to the clinic, ensuring future sustainability. HISTORY Founded in 1982, Education-Plus, Inc. d/b/a Education and Health Innovations in Pennsylvania is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization that improves education and health outcomes and disseminates innovations and best practices by supporting children and families in providing educational services such as academic benchmarking, general and special education, accelerated education opportunities and access to high-quality health care and health education to students in their schools. Education-Plus, Inc. engages in scaling and replication of high impact models, consulting and technical assistance to other organizations, and the promotion of promising practices within education and health through the dissemination of articles and publications in educational journals. Education-Plus, Inc. provides services in the following areas: School Health Clinics, High School to College Access and Completion Pipelines, K-12 Blended Learning specialized in Special Educa- tion Students, and Dissemination of Innovative Social Practices toward Social Impact. College Access, Affordability and Accountability: This program leverages partnerships with colleges and high schools to en- sure the accessibility and affordability of higher education for low-income populations. The program operates in partnership with local colleges, high schools, and community-based or- ganizations to provide college degrees. Next year, this pro- gram seeks to expand current sites to serve more students, open 3 additional sites, and add an allied health certificate to current degree offerings. Philadelphia Social Innovations Journal: The Philadelphia So- cial Innovations Journal publishes free online journal editions highlighting best practices and innovations in the region's social sector. PSIJ will publish 4 new editions in FY2014, in- cluding education, health, behavioral health, and community development. The Social Innovations Lab will graduate 30-40 teams and launch 3-5 new businesses as well as 5-15 new programs/approaches within existing organizations. School Health Clinics: Through School Health Clinics, Educa- tion Plus, increases access to healthcare by providing full- time healthcare services to medically underserved children in the walls of their schools. The presence of healthcare at school encourages children to stay in school and reach their full academic potential. This program operates in partnership with the National Nursing Centers Consortium and Temple University and in 2014 plans to replicate into new locations, for a total of 5 clinics throughout Philadelphia. Education Plus Academy Cyber Charter School: Education Plus Academy Cyber Charter School specializes in educating students who have learning disabilities/differences in read- ing, math, and/or written expression. Next year, EdPlus Acad- emy plans to expand to educate 750 students and open a new chartered site in Delaware.
