Notes Roeland Hancock, PhD Psychological Sciences, Assistant Research Professor (Affiliate) Research Overview I am a cognitive neuroscientist with a primary interest in using neuroimaging to investigate the biological bases of language processing, particularly the etiology of language dysfunction in neurodevelopmental disorders. My interdisciplinary training has been in computational methods, psycholinguistics and neuroimaging. My relevant research projects have focused on the neurobiology of learning disorders in children, particularly reading disorder, and understanding and mitgating the health consequences of poor literacy. I maintain an affiliation with the California Precision Learning Center (precl.org), which conducts research into the relationship between environment, health and early childhood education, and provides outreach and training resources. As part of the Center, I lead the development of a digital platform for early cognitive and literacy assessment, with a partical emphasis on deploying this as a resource in underserved and low-resource schools and validating assessment in English language learner populations. Prior to joining UConn, I was also a member of the UCSF Clinical and Translational Science Institute’s Digital Health program.
